Calyx – Jeanne Girl (Rip Van Winkle) bay colt 6th March 2025

We were very happy to get the sales season off to a bang at Goffs Doncaster Premier Yearling Sale. We managed to secure this cracking Calyx colt out of Jeanne Girl who was a winner at 2 and placed in a Group 2 rated 97. She is two for two with one of her proginee being the very exciting Ballinea Star. She ha won twice including the Anglesey Stakes Group 3 and is looking at Group 1 targets next.

Calyx won 3 races from 4 starts value £154,958 at 2 and 3 years over 6f including the Coventry Stakes Group 2 and Pavillion Stake Group 3.  He stands at Coolmore Stud his winners to runners is 59% and 2yo winners to runner 43%.

The dam Jeanne Girl was rated 103, was a winner at 2 and placed 2nd in the Balanchie Stakes Group 3 and 4th in the Debutante Stakes Group 2.  She has produced 2 winners from 2 runners to date including Ballinea Star winner of 2 races at two years including the Anglesey Stakes Group 3 rated 97 over 6f.

With his precious pedigree and early birth date, this colt is an ideal candidate for the £500,000 Harrys Half Million By Goffs sales race at York on 19th August 2027. The sale price of this colt includes his entry in this race.  There are also ten £25,000 winners bonuses to be won and additionally he is also IRE qualified.

Little Big Bear – Ceol An Ghra (Teofilo) 11th April 2025 Bay filly

We are delighted to have been able to secure this athletic daughter of Champion 2yo Little Big Bear out of the winning mare Ceol An Ghra. 

Little Big Bear was the winner of the Windsor Castle, Listed at Royal Ascot.  He then went on to win the Anglesey Stakes Gr 3 at the Curragh and culminating in winning the  Phoenix Stakes Gr 1, Curragh in emphatic style beating leading first season sire in 2026 Persian Force by seven lengths and multiple Group 1 winning sprinter Bradsell by eight and a half lengths.  He also won the Sandy Lane Group  2 at Haydock before being retired to stud in 2024, his first crop are now yearlings.

The dam, Ceol An Ghra won over 6f and was rated 88.  She has already produced a Stakes performer in Lady Vivian rated 99, under the ownership of Wathnan Racing trained by Ralf Beckett. Under the 2nd dam are Group 1 performers Loch Garnman, winner of the Criterium Saint Cloud and Rehn’s Nest who was placed 2nd in the Irish 1000 Guineas, Curragh.

She is EBF, BC and IRE registered and qualified to run in the £200,000 Tattersalls Somerville Auction Stakes and £200,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes run at Newmarket in 2027.

ANGEL OF DESIRE

2yo filly Harry Angel -Whims Of Desire (Nathaniel)

This attractive filly by champion sprinter Harry Angel was purchased from the Guineas Breeze up sale where she showed good speed.  She is a half sister to 110 rated Ebt’s Guard who is ultra consistent in top class handicaps and is targeting the Celebration Mile at Goodwood.  It’s a top class fillies family and there is black type all the way down the family.

She ran a super first race in a hot race at Newbury to finish fourth and has since followed up this good run with a very promising run at Epsom to finish 3rd. Her half brother Ebt’s Guard finished an excellent 4th in the Celebration Mile Group 2 at Goodwood in August, boosting her value as a broodmare longer term, She is  qualified for the GBB bonus of up to £20,000 if winning a qualifying race.

RADICAL BAY

2yo gelding New Bay – Secret Gaze (Galileo)

This beautifully bred gelding by New Bay out of Secret Gaze who is the own sister to Japan, Mogul, Secret Gesture and Sir Isac Newton.  She has produced 2 winners from 3 runners including this colts full sister  Liwa Oasis rated 90. 

New Bay won the French Derby and is the sire of 18 Stakes performers in 2025 and 46 in total including Saffron Beach and sires Bay Bridge and Bayside Boy.

Since having him gelded he has come on in leaps and bounds; he’s  a good looking individual who is quick to learn his job and he will run at the beginning of September over 7f.
